Zero

Zero’s story is a sad one. She came to the city shelter as a stray when she was a puppy, and sat in the shelter for 60 days! I cannot believe that no one would adopt this little one. Look at that face! After her time was up at the city shelter, Homeward Bound Animal Rescue in Bedford scooped her up and is currently taking care of her. She was a bit skittish after she left the shelter, but is quickly learning what it means to be a playful puppy. Zero is 12 lbs, 3 month old Manchester Terrior mix. Etsy Spotlight: Dear Golden
July 29th, 2009 § 2 Comments
In celebration of a fab vintage dress I bought this morning from Dear Golden Vintage, I thought I’d feature them in my next Etsy Spotlight. I was loitering around on Lauren’s blog last night (yes, her name is Lauren, too), so as a new fan I wanted to share Dear Golden with you.
First things first, this is the dress I bought this morning. It’s from the 70′s and the colors are just delicious. They’re having a big summer sale right now, which I heard about via Twitter (@deargolden), so I hopped on over to their store and snatched this dress up for only $25! I follow all of my favorite vintage sellers on Twitter because they’re always announcing new additions and sales in their shop. Great way to get a heads up.

Dear Golden features a wide variety of vintage treasures in the Etsy shop. From accessories to bags, blouses to dresses, you can find it all there. I think what stands out most to me is her wide variety of vintage shoes. And it’s all for really great prices, too. I’m loving this green beaded necklace that’s in her shop right now.
The Dear Golden blog features a smorgasbord of vintage wonderfulness. She posts picture after picture of vintage clothing and puts it all together to create outfits, as well. So if you love vintage – wearing it, looking at it, buying it – Dear Golden’s blog and Etsy shop are a must.

Enjoy!
(and don’t forget about the summer sale)

Amber

I wanted to feature an older dog today, as I believe they deserve the best homes just like the adorable puppies do. It’s my goal in life to adopt an older dog and give it the best last few years possible. Thus, today’s dog is Amber, a beautiful Golden Oldie.
Amber is now in foster care because her previous family could no longer take care of her. She’s a sweet, well mannered dog that’s already potty trained, crate trained, and great around adults and other animals. She’s 9 years old and 90 lbs! A big girl, a gentle giant. Amber is with the Collin County Humane Society in McKinney, TX. To learn more about her and see a couple of more pictures, visit Petfinder.

I’m not sure if there’s anything cuter than two spooning dogs. Or actually, in this case, it’s more like Olive is force-spooning Maggie. Anywho, the heads are cut off because I was taking this while driving (totally safe) but their bodies are so cute I wanted to share anyway.
Dirty Love on a Rainy Monday
July 27th, 2009 § 2 Comments
The second location of Chef Tim Love’s sweet little burger joint, Love Shack, is set to open this Friday, July 31st at So7 in Fort Worth. But before the grand opening, he’s decided to treat patrons to half off lunches Monday-Wednesday of this week while they work out all of the kinks. I got wind of this great deal via @Cheftimlove on Twitter and immediately decided to hop on over today to check things out.

The gloomy weather and open patio didn’t keep people away, as there was quite a decent crowd waiting in line to get their Dirty Love burgers and strawberry shakes. In fact, Chef Tim Love was there himself, checking things out behind the counter and meeting and greeting the customers.

The atmosphere is quite different from the Stockyards location, with a slightly more trendy vibe, inside seating, and a nice little bar in the center that opens up to the patio and inside area.

I loved the chalkboard paint that covered the walls inside, which gave the joint a little bit of a down-home, comfy feel. And of course, the food was great. I got the Love Burger deal which includes a Love Burger, small fry, and drink – all for $4! (Usually $8). I must admit, I gave the fries much more “love” than the burger. I can’t get enough of those thin little strips of fried potato heaven. Lemonade was yummy, as well.

I’m looking forward to having the second Love Shack location so close to home as it seems like the perfect little spot to enjoy a brewsky (or two) on a Friday night. And of course, I had to get a cheese ball picture with Chef Love because I’m such a fan of the Food Network, Top Chef, and, well, food in general. Don’t judge.

Victor, a precious playful Lab mix pup, was found next to a dumpster with the rest of his litter. He’s a lucky guy, as he has also survived Parvo. He’s got all of his shots, and is nearly potty trained! The guy loves to swim, as you can see in the picture below.

What’s neat about Victor is that there is also a video available for you to see him in action! To find out more about Victor and to see his video, visit Petfinder. Victor is with Canine Soulmates Rescue in Hurst, TX.

Travis and I took our friends Courtney and Gif out to the ranch this weekend where their dogs and Olive got to romp around, swim in the pond, and act like good ol’ country dogs. The after effect? A totally pooped little doggie.
