A Trip to The Nasher
August 13th, 2009 § 2 Comments
Two summers ago I interned at the Dallas Museum of Art. I spent nearly everyday of that summer across the street from The Nasher Sculpture Center and never went in for a visit. Shame.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting The Nasher for the first time. It really is wonderful and the collection of art is fantastic. But what I loved most about my visit was learning about The Nasher family. I didn’t know this, but The Nashers built North Park Mall in an attempt to bring art and sculpture to the masses. Hence, when you walk through the shopping center there are dozens of fantastic pieces of art.

The family had a true eye for a masterpiece, especially Patsy, the wife. When she was still living she rubbed elbows with art greats like Andy Warhol. In fact, she had a painting commissioned of herself and her three daughters by Warhol. Can you imagine?? Having an original Andy Warhol of your face???

This collection has toured the world and been on exhibit in some of the most fabulous locations. And now it resides in Dallas, just next door to us in Fort Worth. What a gem.
I’m tagging this for Renaissance’s blog roundup this week. Meanwhile, I have a question: why is your blog called “Blue Eye Brown Eye?”
