Something Old, Something Blue

….well, teal to be exact.

While planning my wedding, trips to antique malls, antique shows, and garage sales have become part of the norm. With a wedding theme like kitschy-vintage-whimsy-casual, you’re destined to spend a lot of time perusing long lost treasures.

I wanted to share with you some of my favorite finds thus far that will grace tabletops and other nooks and crannies of our par-tay.

Hankies

We’re going to make these vintage hankies into pillows for the lounge/cocktail area. Tossing about the idea of putting a monogram in the middle, as well.

Vases

We’ve been collecting an assortment of bird and/or teal or orange vases to use in the tablescapes. Aren’t they sooo fun?

Vases

An aerial view of all of the vases. Swans, birds, figurines, I cannot wait to decorate with them after the wedding, too!

Take a Seat My Dear

This one’s probably my favorite find. We’ll mount it and frame it to be placed at the “check-in” table with the escort cards. Love!

What fun finds did you or will you incorporate into your wedding, party, or event? I’d love to hear!

Portland, OR

This one slipped away from me – I forgot it was on my phone! While walking through a delightful neighborhood in Portland, I stumbled upon this gem of a yard sign. Couldn’t help but stop for a pic. If only I had actually seen the nice lady and beloved old goat!

Here’s a shameless plug. I’ve got a TON of great dresses from my past that I’m putting up on ebay. Sadly, they’re dresses that just don’t fit my “adult” frame that I’ve come to know. :) I wanted to give you a preview of a few of the dresses that I have up so far. One precious Nanette Lepore number and two super cute Laundry by Shelli Segal frocks.

The cooler weather makes a sweater photo feel appropriate.

Hello, David Bailey

September 24, 2009 § 1 Comment

I’m doing homework right now. Yes, homework. Admittedly, this is the hardest I’ve thought in awhile. Hate me. For my calligraphy class this week I have to

1. Write out the ever-popular phrase, “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade” quote AND

2. Create a list of items from A-Z based on your chosen theme. The teacher recommended: flowers, movies, animals. As for me? I opted for pop culture.

I’m stuck on two letters. N (surprisingly) and Z (not surprisingly). BUT while googling pop culture (that’s my G, Google) I came across these amazing photos by British photographer David Bailey. So amazing I had to share.

This one stopped me in my tracks. I need this dress.

I believe this photo is actual of David, not by him, but who cares. I’d like a photo of me like this on my wedding day.

I mean, I die. (That’s my I, by the way).

Where Am I?
