The Cream Austin, A Recap

Sunday Anna and I packed up our bags and hit the road for The Cream in Austin. For those of y’all that don’t know, The Cream is a curated wedding event showcasing the best of the best in the wedding industry. Hosted by the amazing ladies of Bash, Please, The Cream is truly a gem of an event. The styling was impeccable, the cocktails were flowing, and inspiration was everywhere. Not to mention, I’ve never seen so many cute, stylish people in one place.

There were tablescapes (like this one from Byrd Collective), tastings, paper examples, and even a make your own bouquet station. This tablescape had tiny little gold animals on it, which I adored.

Bunting everywhere

Bake Sale had the sweetest set-up, not to mention delicious treats. I tried the mini strawberry pop tart. Anna and I had the pleasure of seeing Bake Sale in action at Carla’s wedding last fall.

A very exciting moment was the BHLDN fashion show that showcased all of their brand new spring pieces. There was so much to gush over. Anna and I met the BHLDN girls from Philly and they were the cutest, most stylish girls. Watch for them on Mosey!

Other great highlights:

Dancing to tunes by The Flashdance (and might I add that Anna and I won the dance competition and a two night stay at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach)!
Meeting Brian from Shark Pig. It was sort of a big moment for me, I love his work.
Chatting with the girls from Moon Canyon Design Co. in LA. They had the most beautiful sugared fruit on their tablescape. If you’re getting married in the area, look them up!
Shaking hands with Krista from Blue Eyed Yonder, a vintage event rental company based out of Atlanta. Check her blog!
Finally meeting Amberly from The Swoon. Have you become a vendor yet?

Anna Routh Photography Thank You Cards

I love a ‘secret’ project. It’s so fun for me when I collaborate with people wanting to surprise another. This time, I worked with Amir, Anna’s husband, to create a unique Christmas present for her and her business. He wanted to create thank you notes for her to send to her clients – so we worked together to come up with this fun outcome. Goodness knows I love to collect vintage things, and I happened to have tons of vintage black and white photographs on hand. Anna’s brand is centered around a black and white color scheme, so why not use black and white photos themselves as cards? I took her logo and letterpress printed it along the back of each card. We then paired the cards with French Paper’s Steel Grey envelope, a white stamp pad for her return address stamp , and a white pen for writing on the grey envelope. (By the way, this white pen is the best I’ve ever used: Uni-ball Signa Broad in white, purchased at Asel Art Supply). All wrapped up and packaged just in time for Christmas!

Yellow and Grey Letterpress Suite

It’s a wrap! Just finished this invitation suite for my friend Anna’s yellow and grey summer wedding this June! She’s been vibing on the hearts from her Save the Dates and Thank You’s so I pulled those into this suite, and gave it a bit of a vintage twist with type elements and the vintage stamps (the North Carolina stamp was just too perfect). The calligraphy style is one of my favorites – a whimsical, organic script. The white ink on grey just pops!

Oh goodness gracious, I am in awe of this glorious Duchess Lace Cape from BHLDN. That little hoodie in the back is so sweet. If only my wedding were this year, not last!

Scenes from a shower

Last weekend my mom and I hosted a shower for my dear friend, Anna, and I wanted to share a few images from the event. It was so fun to put it together for her because she has great style and I wanted to make her proud!

I ordered cupcakes from The Cupcake Cottage in Fort Worth – my new favorite place. These are their “baby cakes” and I love how they decorate the cakes. Not only are they cute, but delicious as well. I completely recommend them.

To add a little pizazz, I added the yellow flag toppers to the chocolate cupcakes. They’re very simple to make: simply take a wood skewer, cut it down to size, then tie a small piece of ribbon around the top. All of the cupcakes were placed on vintage cake stands that I’ve collected since my wedding.

These little flower label pots might be my new favorite thing. It was pretty simple to create and am thinking about doing a little DIY on them.

Vintage cake stands gave nice height to simple flower arrangements I pulled together in mason jars. Use varying heights and it gives a nice statement to the center of your table.

I had this vintage table cloth laying around the house – and it worked perfectly with Anna’s wedding colors – yellow and grey. This was so fun to put together and I cannot wait for your wedding, Anna!

Popcorn ornament DIY

‘Tis the best time of the year (in my opinion) and my house has been consumed with holiday decorating and tree trimming. I recently had a neat opportunity to decorate a tree for the Dallas Arboretum’s young professional organization holiday party silent auction (pictures to come). I incorporated a vintage Christmas theme (surprise, surprise) and wanted to include classic popcorn decor. However, it takes forever to string popcorn to create a garland! Thus, I created this little DIY version – popcorn ornaments.

To start, you’ll need the following supplies:

Popped, cooled popcorn (I used Kettle corn – because inevitably I snacked, too).
Embroidery twine in your color of choice
Embroidery needle
Spray adhesive
White glitter

First, you’ll take your needle and thread and thread through a piece of popcorn.

Continue to string popcorn on string. You’ll want to string about 5 pieces for the ornament.

Once you’ve strung about 5 pieces, loop the popcorn on the string into a little circle. You’ll then thread your needle through the original popcorn piece. This will create a ring. Next, you’ll simply cut off the thread at the length you’d like the ornament to hang. Tie a simple knot at the end of your thread.

To add a touch of sparkle, spray the popcorn with spray adhesive and sprinkle with white glitter. This give the ball a ‘sugared’ look.

Next, hang on your pretty tree!

Note: be sure to keep these out of reach of small children and pets.

Now that the turkey has been carved, the stuffing eaten, and pumpkin pie devoured, I can officially ring in the holidays. I am so excited. Christmas time is my absolutely favorite time of year and I am so anxious to put up my Christmas tree and other decorations. What’s your favorite thing about Christmas?

Vintage trophies

I recently bought two vintage bowling trophies from the 1950′s solely because I thought they were awesome (and a deal). As I went through the check out I had no idea what I’d like to use them for, and then I thought – book ends! So while I cleaned my house yesterday I did a little rearranging in my family room to incorporate these two bowlers, and I kind of love them. I think they deserve names, no? Any ideas? Perhaps Phil and Daniel.
