Classes

Since July 2012 I have taught hundreds of students the art of modern pointed pen calligraphy. What started around my dining room table has now expanded to several cities across the United States and online. I love sharing my passion for calligraphy and meeting new faces, but what I love most about these classes is that I believe calligraphy is truly accessible – once you learn the basic technique anyone can practice calligraphy. And you don’t even need to have perfect handwriting!

Beginner/Lowercase Calligraphy Classes

What you’ll get:

1 oblique pen | 3 nibs | pot of ink | washi tape | tracing paper pad | practice alphabet and grid | extra goodies and surprises

What we’ll do:

If you’re interested in learning calligraphy, thinking of starting your own business, or just like to try something new – this class is for you. This class is truly meant for beginners – if you’ve never picked up a calligraphy pen before, you’ll want to take this class! We’ll go over the basics, including dipping your pin in ink, understanding ink flow and pressure, basic script letter forms, and developing your own lettering style. I’ll be available to answer any questions about calligraphy and starting a calligraphy business.

Where are the classes held?

Classes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area are held at my Fort Worth studio located in the Cultural District. The address will be sent out after registration.

What is the cost?

Lowercase/Beginner sessions are $180 per person (classes outside of Fort Worth, Texas may incur a slightly higher cost), including supplies and light snacks. Lessons typically last 2.5-3 hours. Payment for class is due up-front and is non-refundable or exchangeable.

Uppercase/Intermediate Calligraphy Classes

What you’ll get:

1 oblique pen | 3 nibs | pot of ink refill | 1 tube of gouache | washi tape | tracing paper pad | practice alphabet and grid | extra goodies and surprises

What we’ll do:

If you’re interested in advancing your calligraphy skills and building on your learning – this class is for you. This class is intended for those who have taken my beginner class, or have taken a course before using an oblique pen and pointed nib. We’ll dive right in with the uppercase alphabet, go over using colored inks and mixing gouache, practice writing words and connecting our letters, and touch on addressing envelopes. Don’t feel like your skills have to be advanced to take this class, it’s for anyone that has a solid understanding for basic pointed pen technique with an oblique pen.

What is the cost?

Uppercase/Intermediate sessions are $190 per person (classes outside of Fort Worth, Texas may incur a slightly higher cost), including supplies and light snacks. Lessons typically last 2.5-3 hours. Payment for classes is due up-front and is non-refundable or exchangeable.
