Summerfield at Tate Farms

aprylann_tatefarm_103When I have the opportunity to collaborate with vendors that are not only so talented, but are also my friends, it’s such a special thing to watch their creativity unfold. Back in the fall, I participated in a shoot styled by Cakewalk Bake Shop at the new venue, Summerfield at Tate Farms. It was fun, inspiring, and magical to be on a working Texas farm. Brides of North Texas

The 5th Anniversary Edition of The Brides of North Texas launched a couple of weeks ago, and it was exciting to see some of the work I did months ago come alive on page! I took part in three different shoots, one being a bright, tropic-inspired vignette designed by Bows + Arrows. I helped out with the favor boxes, invitation suite, the design of the neon sign, and the laser-cut cake toppers. Gotta love bright colors with black and white accents.

The second shoot was the backdrop for a feature on Bows + Arrows florals. This things was a labor of love!

For the last shoot, I switched gears to a softer vibe in Jen Rios Design’s vignette, inspired by romanticism and handwriting. Here you’ll find my custom backdrop and invitation suite.

Ready for Fall

While I was at the market last week I was drawn to all of the autumnal floral and greenery in the flower section. I especially loved the rosehips and dahlias. So I picked some of them up to create a little bouquet – it’s good for the soul, arranging flowers, ya know.

The Swoon

Just a couple of weeks ago Anna and I participated in an excellent first-time-ever event, The Swoon. The Swoon is a bridal market and party focusing on creative brides, unique events, and fun ideas. Anna and I had the pleasure of being sponsors and shared a booth together. The Cheese, Anna’s new photobooth venture, made it’s big debut, and I had a tablescape on display among other things. This was truly Blue Eye Brown Eye’s first appearance as not only a stationer, letterpress printer, and calligrapher – but also as an event and floral designer.

The whole theme came from the idea of getting a cotton candy machine and handing it out at the booth – I mean, who doesn’t love cotton candy? From there, it grew into a grand, pink party! Pink isn’t normally my first choice in color, but I must admit – mixing it with metallics turned out to be a lot of fun.

Below are some images from our booth, taken by Anna Routh Photography:

A big thanks to Stir Crazy Baked Goods for making these amazingly perfect cakes and cupcakes for the display!

All cakes and cupcakes you see here are from Stir Crazy Baked Goods in Fort Worth. I made this little bunting to go on top of the pink two-tiered cake.

A big thanks to Period Charm Rentals for letting us use this chair. Y’all, it is so fantastic. Be sure to check out all of her stuff!
I wish this sign would have been a little easier to read in images. It read: “Ladies and Gents, grab a flower and stick it in your hair or your lapel. Get creative and have fun!” It was fun seeing ladies walk around with pink flowers behind their ears.

Anna and I collaborated on the backdrop for The Cheese background!

We rented a cotton candy machine to tie it all together – a huge hit!

And a few iPhone photos and Instagrams:

My sweet friend, Lo, was such a help! Couldn’t have done The Swoon without her!

These balloons were absolutely enormous. And pretty awesome.

The Cream Austin, A Recap

Sunday Anna and I packed up our bags and hit the road for The Cream in Austin. For those of y’all that don’t know, The Cream is a curated wedding event showcasing the best of the best in the wedding industry. Hosted by the amazing ladies of Bash, Please, The Cream is truly a gem of an event. The styling was impeccable, the cocktails were flowing, and inspiration was everywhere. Not to mention, I’ve never seen so many cute, stylish people in one place.

There were tablescapes (like this one from Byrd Collective), tastings, paper examples, and even a make your own bouquet station. This tablescape had tiny little gold animals on it, which I adored.

Bunting everywhere

Bake Sale had the sweetest set-up, not to mention delicious treats. I tried the mini strawberry pop tart. Anna and I had the pleasure of seeing Bake Sale in action at Carla’s wedding last fall.

A very exciting moment was the BHLDN fashion show that showcased all of their brand new spring pieces. There was so much to gush over. Anna and I met the BHLDN girls from Philly and they were the cutest, most stylish girls. Watch for them on Mosey!

Other great highlights:

  • Dancing to tunes by The Flashdance (and might I add that Anna and I won the dance competition and a two night stay at Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach)!
  • Meeting Brian from Shark Pig. It was sort of a big moment for me, I love his work.
  • Chatting with the girls from Moon Canyon Design Co. in LA. They had the most beautiful sugared fruit on their tablescape. If you’re getting married in the area, look them up!
  • Shaking hands with Krista from Blue Eyed Yonder, a vintage event rental company based out of Atlanta. Check her blog!
  • Finally meeting Amberly from The Swoon. Have you become a vendor yet?
  • Taking pics in the Smilebooth, can’t wait to share those with ya!

Sylvia & Andy

This past Saturday Sylvia and Andy got married, and I had the pleasure of doing the complete event design and floral for their fall inspired event. It was so fun. Unfortunately, I was so busy running around I did not have the opportunity to take too many pictures, but here are a few. I’m looking forward to seeing what the photographer captured as I’m no professional, but I hope you enjoy!
