Washi Tape Cupcake Topper DIY
Do you love washi tape? I do. I love to seal envelopes with it, wrap up products with it, and think of other creative ways to incorporate the colorful tape. Here, I’ll show you how to make a simple cupcake topper using any washi tape you have on hand.
First up, gather your supplies. You’ll need:
- Washi tape (any pattern or color of your choice)
- Coordinating card stock
- A large shape paper punch (I’m using a heart, any shape will do. Think circle, star, etc).
- Toothpicks
- Hot glue gun
- Tiny alphabet stamps
- Stamp pad
Oh, you’ll also need a cupcake (or two)!
After you’ve gathered your supplies, you’ll take your washi tape and a piece of card stock and layer about two inch pieces of tape onto the card stock. You’ll want to cover about a 2 inch square of surface area. (This can change based on your hole punch). Also, before you start, go ahead and plug in that hot glue gun so it’ll be ready when you’re ready to use it!
Next, take your hole punch and punch out your shape. Also, punch out another shape in the plain card stock.
Now you’ll take your mini letter stamps and stamp the message of your choice on the blank shape. Here, I did “happy bday.”
Use the glue gun to put a line of glue down the center for your toothpick. Also, put a few dots on either side to adhere the washi tape heart to the back.
Align the washi tape heart to the back of your message heart and you’re done! Stick it in your cupcake and you’ve got a cute, simple presentation. Happy crafting!
You are so clever!
